Scripted Drawings
Scripted Drawings is a series of drawings created with Processing and an Hewlett Packard pen plotter from 1983.
Each drawing in the series represents a unique algorithm. I'm exploring how randomness, Perlin noise, and autonomous fly-like agents can be used to create compelling images. No two drawings are identical, even if they have been produced by the same algorithm.
Despite the mechanical nature of both the generation and the output, the images are meant to evoke natural processes such as waves and geological formations.
For this project I wrote a custom library that takes Processing drawing commands and translates them to HPGL to be fed to the printer.
